Get ready for your day trip on Scilly with these handy tips and check-list before you leave home:
- Take binoculars. Views are breath-taking; birdlife is extraordinary. Or if you are out on a boat, it’s highly probable you’ll spot seals and dolphins, with seals often popping their heads up closer to shore.
- Booking transportation: early flights mean you have more time to spend on the islands and broadening your scope of things to experience whilst here. Flying here can take as little as 15 minutes, and by boat, in just under 3 hours you will touch land again. Both offer magnificent views, scenery on route. Many have spotted dolphins alongside the Scillonian passenger ferry!
- Plan ahead: it’s definitely worth scoping out your day, have a rough plan in mind, depending on how long you have – 4 or 7 hours – depending on how you travel here. If it’s your first time you may like to amble, soak up the rays and switch off for a few hours. And that’s okay. We’ll provide you with a handful of itineraries to steer you in the right direction.
- Island-hopping: time this with your travel to Scilly as they often leave around 10am from St. Mary’s Harbour. Flying to Scilly will also give you far more time to enjoy more than one island as part of your day here.
