The best way to get around St. Agnes is on foot. (And it’s the only way on Gugh.) Nothing is too far and it can easily be done in a day, even half if you’re up for a romp. With no roads to speak of – and just a concrete road linking the quay to the main island points, much of your walking will be off the beaten track.
Getting to St. Agnes from the other islands is easy. “Tripper boats” go from St. Mary’s every day, usually twice a day; and from St. Martin’s, Tresco and Bryher, once or twice a week. Check the noticeboards on the islands or contact the local island boating company.
If you’re staying on St. Agnes - then you’ll need to contact St. Agnes Boating to find out the inter-island boating schedule. They visit St. Mary’s every day, and at least one of the other off-islands. They post the weekly schedule and special excursions online @stagnesboating and also on the St. Agnes noticeboards – at the quay, the island’s shop and campsite. If the scheduled service doesn’t suit, or you simply want a boat at a special time or to a special place, this can nearly always be arranged (tides and weather permitting!). Why not download the St. Agnes Boating app or check the live timetable here.
